MAJOR 4th season
Air Date: 2008-01-05
Episodes: ?

Notes: Shigeharu Goro is back with his gyro fastball for another season of baseball drama.

Season 3 recap: Because of Egashira’s subversive harassement, Goro is forced to enroll at Seishuu High, a newly converted co-ed school with no baseball team. Determined to beat Kaido High in the upcoming regionals, he scrapes together a team in typical flare. He’s purposely crippled during a practice match with his old teammates but instead of setting him, back he takes his team to the semi-finals to face-off with Kaido. By the end of S3, he’s leaving on a jet plane to fullfill his promise with Joe Gibson.

The anime is fairly faithful to the comic so S4 most likely covers Goro’s stint in the Minor League and his new rival Joe Gibson Jr., Joe Gibson’s son.

Realease Date: 2008-01, 2008-02
Episodes: OVA, 6
OP: “Alsatia” by Galneryus
ED: “Cause Disarray” by Galneryus

Preview: 1

Summary: Mnemosyne – Mnemosyne no Musume-tachi is a “‘hard-boiled science fiction action’ series. The story revolves around a Tokyo woman named Rin, an assassin named Laura that is hunting her down, and the series of bizarre incidents involving angel-like creatures.” – Okanimefans

Notes: Also spotted title translated as “Little Sisters of Mnemosyne”. Not much out there on this anime, and the keyart is misleading. Found a short excerpt that’s more informative.

“In the sexy, hardboiled science fiction action anime, Mnemosyne -Mynemosyne no Musume-tachi-, Tanaka Rie voices Yamanobe Sayara, head of Aoyama Pharmaceutical Company’s Sayama Laboratory. The haughty, quite sadistic Sayara conducts illegal experiments at the laboratory.” Siegel Clyne

Make sure to check out the screenshots (haw haw, shows nipple). Looks sick. Must watch!

PERSONA -trinity soul-
Air Date: 2008-01-05
Episodes: ?

Summary: The story takes place 10 years after the events in Persona 3.

“In Persona ~trinity soul~, the story revolves around three brothers: main character Shin Kanzato (age 17), his younger brother Jun (14), and older brother Ryou (28). After ten years of no cases of Apathy Syndrome, a strange sub emerges from the ocean, filled with a crew who show all of the signs of the sickness. A short time later, a student is found dead, with his body actually turned inside out. Ryou – a police detective – is investigating the death, thinking that it might have some connection to a large criminal organization. However, something far more mysterious is at play, and when Shin happens to get involved, an accident causes his Persona to awaken and emerge.” – (PlayMag 1, 2). More otaku discussions at ASuki (full version).

Notes: Never played the game so here’s the Persona 3 background for other n00bs.

“A teenager who was orphaned as a young boy returns to the city of his childhood. Shortly after transferring to Gekkoukan High School, he is attacked by Shadows — creatures that feed on the minds of their victims. The assault awakens his Persona, Orpheus, his only chance at defeating these creatures of the night. He soon discovers that he shares this special ability with other students at his new school. From them he learns of the “Dark Hour,” a hidden time that exists between one day and the next, swarming with Shadows. He joins the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad (SEES), and with his new friends, confronts the threat of the Shadows.

After signing a contract in which he “accepts his fate of his own free will,” the Main Character battles with the other members of SEES against the Greater Shadows, incarnations with traits and appearances similar to those of the first twelve Major Arcana of the Tarot. While this is occurring, he continues to encounter and eventually befriends the child who gave him the contract to sign at the very beginning of the game, an entity who refers to himself as Pharos, and who is really the incarnation of Death, the thirteenth Arcana.” – Wiki.

Read the comprehensive character bios for more info. “Apathy Syndrome” is a condition where the victims act comatose. (A. Swimmer) In the game, certain people gain the ability summon magical spirits from within themselves called Persona which take the form of various figures in mythology.

Never played the video game but the concept is intriguing so it’s a must watch.

Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei Dainiki
さよなら絶望先生 第2期
Air Date: 2008-1-23 2008-01-05
Episodes: 13

Summary: A story revolves around a man who wallows in despair and his classroom of equally bizzare students.

Notes: They took a simple comic and turned it into an experimental, fanservice fluff. Don’t expect deep, meaningful stories. Occassionally they pull off a successful short. Note that it’s when they don’t go overboard with the visuals.

The keyart’s background features art taken from “flower cards” or hanafuda (nippon). During Nippon occupation of Hanguk (Korea), the cards were assimilated by the country and developed into Hwa tu.

Swarm of floating ghosts

“The main character, Ryougi Shiki, was involved in a car accident and fell into a deep coma for two years. When she finally awoke from it, she had gained the “Eyes of Death Perception” ability but believed to have lost something instead.

The Ryougi family attempted to create human beings that exceeded normal humans, and to accomplish this, they trained their children in various martial arts and fencing, and also made them split their personalities. They believed that by using this method, one personality could be an expert in one subject while the other could be master other subjects. Shiki was no exception to this, and she had a masculine and feminine side that switched places with each other.

After having woken up from the accident, Shiki believed that her masculine personality side had died during the accident. Instead she tried to supplement the spiritually dead Shiki`s personality by her masculine tone.” – AniDB & S-F

Shigofumi: ~Stories of Last Letter~
シゴフミ ~Stories of Last Letter~
Air Date: 2008-01-04 2008-01-05
Episodes: ?
Preview: 1
Summary: “Shigofumi” means “posthumous letter,” the last message from a dead person. The cover page illustration (above) is Fumika and her long mace, dubbed Mayama. Their work is to deliver “Shigofumi” into the hands of the bereaved, or significant others of those that have passed. This volume consisted of three chapters, each with a different heroine: Aoi, Noriko and Arisa.

The first chapter starts on a sunny Sunday afternoon where Rika Ayase waits for Aoi Tsukishiro for lunch around half an hour, but Aoi doesn’t appear. Rika gradually becomes worried. For her, Aoi is more than a friend – they had promised to “jump together from the roof of the building” to leave this world in a double suicide. Suddenly, a strange girl appears and tells her why Aoi delayed – she had been killed in a train crash.

In the next chapter, a magic show has just finished. In the green room, a young magician named Takaaki Soma is dressing to say his final goodbye to Noriko Hasegawa, his lover and magic assistant. Then, a strange girl walks into the room through the wall. She hands Noriko’s “Shigofumi” to Takaaki in which Noriko writes only one sentence: “Take care, I wish your work becomes good”. Takaaki simply returns the unopened letter to Fumika.

The last story features a young girl named Arisa, who cuts her fencing club activity for the first time ever. After the death of her father, Jill Belton, Arisa half-heartedly continues to fence, as she had received rigorous training from her father for many years. At the time she started fencing, he was pleased. But after a certain point, he stopped praising her and gave her pitying, disappointing looks. When she gets home, a strange girl is waiting and passes the letter from Jill to Arisa, but Arisa finds herself unable to open it.” – wakataka423

OMG is this helpful, Thanks sooo much for this information. ^^ this might seem a strange question, but, has anybody heard of a second season to ‘claymore’?

    Bokura ga Ita sequel:

Can’t imagine a sequel with only 4 volumes as source (v1-8 used for season 1, continuation v9-12 published so far) unless it’s a 12 episode run. In the meantime, nab the most recent translations at js or post-seaon 1 spoilers at wiki or AS.
