First Impression: Mkky D’s special sauce does not make good breath mint.
Summary: Mera takes Sunmi to a lowkey motel to hide. She’s amusingly hungry after spending all night running around. After she’s done eating Mera asks her straight up if she’s Daishisai’s grand-daughter. She confirms it, keeping the secret from Mera because she didn’t trust him. For a moment, Sunmi looks like his dead girlfriend and his composure breaks.
The story enters a flashback of Mera’s youth. Mera, Kai and Skunk were good friends but Mera and Kai shared an especially strong bond. Mera met the girl who became the central figure behind the break in the trio’s long standing friendship at an arcarde. Fujio is older than him and once dated Nagisa, Shibuya Saru’s leader who died in a gang related incident. She never forgot him or the unfulfilled promised that he’d take her to the sea. She makes Mera promise to take her. Mera takes Kai instead. Later, he takes Fujio to the sea (it’s the same hotel he takes Sunmi). She later notes the two best friends’ closeness and how she feels like she’s intruding.
His simple life isn’t without worry. There’s an incident where he confronts Skunk about badmouthing Kai. His parents are also heavy in debt. One day at school, Kai leaves for a DJ contest with a million yen prize. He wants Mera to attend the contest but Mera can’t go because Buppa comes to collect the debt. Toadlike gangster takes a keen interest in Mera (it makes you wonder, after seeing what happend to that last boy he took an interest in in Ep1). When Skunk tells him Kai won the DJ contest, Mera frantantically tries to contact Kai to borrow the million yen. Since his parents are unable to payback the debt, Buppa kills them (keeping body parts in tubes maybe the dangerous hobby Buppa talked about in past episodes). Mera blames Kai for everything. Making him one of two people he wants to kill, the other being Buppa.
Mera wakes up alone, Sunmi is long gone. Mera looks for her but is called back to Buppa’s place by Skunk because of an emergency. Sunmi and Kai meet again and they talk about Mera. Sunmi says Fujio killed herself because Nagisa died but Kai corrects her immediately. He tells her it definatly wasn’t suicide but an accident. She was with him after the DJ competition but they got separate when a surge of passengers swarmed the train station platform. From his point of view, the crowd bumped her off the platform in front of the oncoming train.
Buppa found out Sunmi is Daishisai’s grand-daughter and is in a panic. Skunk eggs Buppa into having Sunmi killed to save their necks. Mera confronts him outside but Skunk brushes him off in his first open display of rebellion. In a cunning move, Skunk contacts Daishisai of Hong Kong and negotiates the return of Sunmi for control of Tokyo. He later gathers Wu-ronz members and forces them to acknowledge him as their leader of the Neo Wu-ronz.
